The first match of the season for Solihull United 3rd team was a friendly match with WMD CC at our home ground in Henley-in-Arden. It was a beautiful afternoon with sun shining bright and a perfect day to have your game. WMD captain Iftikar Azam won the toss and didn't had any hesitation to bat first on a beautiful track for batting. Their opener W Butterworth scored a fantastic century(132 of 112 balls) with 3 sixes and 17 boundaries and showed some tremendous class and temperament.The sunshine has bought some good luck for him as Solihul United couldn't capitalize on few chances he offered. Neverthless it was a great innings.He was well supported by Debbie who scored 31.8 bowlers were used by solihull United and being the first match of the season,team were bit rusty and it got sometime to get things moving.Eventually WMD was allout in the last over for a mammoth 272.Chandra was the pick of the bowler for SUCC with 4 wickets in his 6 overs for 51 runs with Prakash and Vijayendra chipped in with 2 wickets each.

Chasing 273 for an outright win ,SUCC were down for 66/6 in the 16th over before Somnath and Veera batted sensibly and build a solid 100 runs Partnership with the former scoring a well crafted 53 before retiring out(infact notout)and later scoring 35 not out.SUCC batted whole 40 overs and scored 188 for the loss of 8 wickets handing WMD a win by 85 runs.T Kuruvila was the pick of the bowlers for WMD with a match figure of 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 7 overs supported by K Nirantharakumar who took 2 wickets in his 5 overs.
